International Congress of Maritime Arbitrators
| ICMA (the International Congress of Maritime Arbitrators) has been held at intervals of roughly two and a half years since 1972, when it first convened in Moscow. The fifteenth Congress, ICMA XV, was held - most successfully - in London in 2004. It was opened by the Senior Law Lord, Lord Bingham of Cornhill. Hundreds of delegates enjoyed a full programme of stimulating papers and discussions as well as the Cedric Barclay Memorial Lecture (given by the Lord Mayor of the City of London), a visit to Greenwich and a sumptuous Gala Dinner at the ancient Guildhall in the City of London at which the principal speaker was Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, Master of the Rolls. Previous Congresses have taken place in Athens, Santa Margherita, Monte Carlo, Casablanca, Madrid, Hamburg, Vancouver, Hong Kong, Paris and Auckland, as well as New York (twice) and (in 1979) London. The next Congress, ICMA XVI, will take place in Singapore between 26th February and 2nd March, 2007. Venue Raffles City Convention Centre. |
